Teach math is not easy because we find that students are also not easy to learn mathematics. A teacher must have creative ideas to be able to transfer knowledge to learners and to be accepted easily by the learner.
According Prof.Ir.RMJT.Soehakso, (1984:3-4), there are several teaching styles can be applied by a teacher, especially teachers of mathematics :
MOORE style that many jump steps, full of challenges (challenges) to be completed for learners.
EILENBERG style that promotes clarity in his lectures, very clear.
MOORE intelligence challenged learners. But EILENBERG trying to close your heart.
Meanwhile, according to Cocroft Report (1982: 132), in teaching methods among other methods of exposition, discussion methods, methods of problem solving, investigation methods, basic skills training methods and principles and methods of implementation.
While the obstacles that often arise in presenting the material, among others, an understanding of different theories of meaning between students who are one with other students, how to implement a method, while the individual learners have different capabilities, the existing system at their respective schools, the condition environment, and learning facilities that may be less adequate.
We as a prospective teacher must know that the faithful that learners have different characteristics both in ability and enthusiasm in learning. Therefore, they have their own ways of learning. Each student learns in different ways and at different speeds. Each requires its own experience that connected with his experiences in the past. In addition, they also have different social-economic backgrounds.
Therefore, teachers should seek to know the advantages and disadvantages of their, plan activities appropriate to student ability levels, build the student’s knowledge and skills wich they obtained both school and home, and plan and use records of student progress (assessment).
Businesses that can be done by the teacher to students like mathematics, among others, by changing the view that learning is teacher-centered to student-centered, learning becomes authoritarian, democratic learning, allowing students to spend their creative ideas, using certain methods so that students who previously passive to active, assess any errors made by students is a fairness to the next error is corrected together other students, as well as providing services to each student individually to resolve any difficulties that they face.
