Most of mathematics teachers in Indonesia are still implementing the traditional mathematics teaching, namely the learning of mathematics with expository relying on a single method with the cycle to explain, give examples, ask questions and give the task in the classical style. With this method then the math teachers have difficulty in:
1. serve the various demands of the students in learning mathematics,
2. encourage underachieving students to improve academic achievement,
3. encourage students to learn actively,
4. use and develop mathematical props,
5. encourage students to learn through collaboration.
Teachers can make efforts to increase the quality of learning mathematics through the development of methods to meet a wide range of academic needs of students, encourage students to learn actively, encourage students to learn to cooperate, and try to start developing a learning tool using modern technology. Development of mathematical learning model proved able to overcome the difficulties of service of teachers to give students a positive impact, but in actual experience obstacles both technical, academic, and socio-cultural.
Business teachers in meeting the academic demands of a wide range of students, encourage students to improve achievement of low achievers, encourage students to learn actively, and encourage students to learn through collaboration, can be done by:
1. Developed the Student Worksheet. The benefits, among others, provide an opportunity for students to work independently, provide an opportunity for students to work together, giving the opportunity for teachers to develop a wide range of activities, provide a useful document for students and provides an alternative source of learning materials, and provide an opportunity for students to perform activities discovery.
2. Formation of study groups. Benefits of forming study groups, among others, encouraging students to conduct discussions, provide context and an atmosphere of learning are varied, giving the opportunity for teachers to develop a wide range of activities, giving students the chance to cooperate.
3. Development of teaching aids and educational media. Benefits of the development of teaching aids and educational media, among others, providing variety of activities, providing variety of learning methods, providing a variety of contexts and learning atmosphere, understanding clarify of the concept.
In reality his efforts to develop learning models can be seen:
a. Teachers are still having difficulty in meeting the various demands of academic students.
b. Teachers have developed a scheme to encourage students to improve achievement of low achievers.
c. Master has managed to create conditions so as to encourage students to learn actively, but still have difficulty in developing the scheme.
d. Master has managed to create conditions to encourage students to learn through collaboration, but still happen difficulties in developing the scheme.
e. Teachers have tried to develop a method of discussion, problem solving and training and administration tasks, but still have difficulties in developing the scheme.
f. In general, teachers have sought to develop learning methods in accordance with the purpose of action research, but teachers experiencing technical difficulties, and academic fundamentals. Technical difficulties of teachers in developing teaching methods that have not tersediannya equipment or facilities necessary learning ang.
g. Academic difficulties of teachers in developing teaching methods are
incompatibility has not been the perception of teachers about the meaning of mathematical learning model referred in accordance with the theory.
